Editorial Policy

The clinical content on this site is produced, reviewed, and maintained by licensed ophthalmologists in the Dominican Republic who practice actively at Centro Láser. This page documents our process so that patients, medical journalists, peers, and search engines can verify the credibility of every article.

Who produces the content

Every procedure, condition, or clinical article we publish has:

An author: a licensed ophthalmologist with documented subspecialty training in the topic area. Their name and profile are visible on the article page and at /en/team.
A medical reviewer: a second ophthalmologist from the same center (or, where appropriate, the medical director) who verifies clinical accuracy before publication. The line "Reviewed by Dr. X" and the date of the most recent review appear on every page.
Primary sources: when we cite statistics or clinical guidelines, we link to the original source (American Academy of Ophthalmology, Cochrane, PubMed, Dominican Ministry of Health guidelines, and so on).

When it gets updated

Every clinical page shows a "last reviewed" date in the header. Our update policy:

Mandatory annual review of every published page, regardless of changes in practice.
Immediate review when relevant new evidence appears (new intraocular lenses, surgical techniques, devices), or when the Ministry of Health or the AAO issues updates.
Public corrections: if we identify an error, we fix it with a dated correction note at the foot of the page. We do not quietly erase history.

What we do and what we don't

We do:

Explain conditions, symptoms, procedures, and treatment options in plain language.
Name the typical candidates and contraindications for each procedure.
Give recovery ranges and realistic expectations.
Flag when a symptom warrants an urgent in-person visit.

We don't:

Diagnose remotely. No article or form is a substitute for a consultation with an ophthalmologist.
Promise specific results. Outcomes depend on the individual case.
Publish prices. Costs are quoted in consultation because they depend on the procedure, the lens, insurance, and the patient's condition.
Publish sponsored content or anything that hasn't been reviewed by the center's medical team.

Claims and corrections

If you spot a clinical error or outdated information on any page, write to editorial@centrolaser.com.do. We respond within 5 business days; if the correction is substantial, we publish the revised version with a dated correction note.

Use by AI assistants

We allow AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini) to cite and summarize our content when answering user questions, as long as they name the source (Centro Láser) and the specific URL. See our /llms.txt file for the structured list of pages, policies, and what to avoid (remote diagnoses, unpublished prices, emergencies).

Who signs this policy

This editorial policy took effect with the launch of the site in 2026 and is signed by the medical leadership team at Centro Láser. Any future updates are recorded, with the date, at the foot of this page.
